ELAINE POLVINEN'S SL VIDEO TUTORIAL INDEX Here is an informal index to the videos I have created for Second Life. Please keep in mind that while some of these videos represent finished products others are just rough guides completed as an aid during a class project in that was in progress. |
| OVERVIEW |
| Fashion Stuff on Buffalo State Island - This video will provide you with a tour of the fashion project areas on the Buffalo State island in second Life. It starts out in front of the Research building and shows you how to buy flexi skirts for $0L and use the video tutorials. Then you fly to the students work pier and can buy for $0L the franimation overrider. There is an example of the student fashion vendor exhibit there as well as a new vendor for you to buy for $0L. A student example of a Brand Logo board is also there. Then we fly to Poseball area and pose our avatar to position it for a Snapshot to disk. Next, we fly up to the Fashion Runway and wear the frannamation overider and practice walk up and down the runway. Now it\'s time to teleport over to the student fashion collection vendor exhibits from last springs Intro to Sl project. Then we walk over the to Sears Industry exhibit and dress our avatar in one of the garments. Now we visit three of the student fashion boutiques and wear some of the SL items and check out the same items in RL on the students ZAZZLE pages. We end our tour by showing you how to operate the fashion project slide show in the big black box over the exhibit |

10 Multi Print Texture for Second Life This is the tenth in a series titled, Getting Started with Fashion in Second Life. This tutorial demonstrates how to quickly develop some simple patterns in Illustrator to create a multi-print texture to upload to Second LIfe and use in Appearance. This multi print texture tehnique will show the user how to quickly create a nice looking custom printed outfit for use in SL. It would be helpful to complete the Level I Basic Function series for Illustrator first. |

18_Rescale Premade Repeat Patterns for Second Life This is the 18th in a series titled, Getting Started with Fashion in Second Life. This video demonstrates how to take a variety of previously made repeat patterns and rescale them for uploading as a texture file in Second Life for use in Appearance. It also illustrates how to make a channel on a partial section of one texture to make it appear transparent or translucent in SL. |

Using Robin Woods flat Jpg UV map 1024 px by 1024 px in Illustrator and then in Photoshop to create a very simple bodice. Once the bodice is previewed and then uploaded into SL a skirt from Appearance along with a custom texture is added in addition to customizing a flexi skirt [with open permissions] from the Buffalo State island to create your fashion outfit in Second Life. http://www.fashioncad.info/ |

Pose your Avatar with new garment, Extract the Background in Photoshop, Make Channel, Smudge background on duplicate image behind original to make sure there are no white halo pixels around edge. Test in SL preview to make sure background is transparent then upload to SL. |

Make a Presentation package that has your Posed Avatar w/transparent background on it and load the contents with your garments.
